What it is
TOYOGUARD is a package from Southeast Toyota Distributors (SET), the distributor for Toyota dealers in the Southeast. Dealer pages say TOYOGUARD plans are provided by SET "as an optional accessory." SET's page lists Platinum as an exterior paint protectant, an interior fabric protectant, a 12-volt battery protectant, 2 synthetic oil changes with filters and 4 tire rotations after ToyotaCare ends, 24/7 roadside assistance, and rental car help (one day per occurrence, up to 5), for up to 5 years or 60,000 miles. The EV version swaps the oil changes for a 12-volt battery warranty. The sticker's fine print gives SET's options a 36-month, 36,000-mile limited warranty. SET's page does not list VIN etching or a theft warranty for Platinum.

What buyers are charged
- On a 2026 Toyota Camry quote a buyer shared with us: $699
- $699printed as distributor option XY900 on a 2024 Tacoma window sticker, a buyer's forum post (Jan 2025), TacomaWorld forum: TOYOGUARD Platinum, what did I pay for? (Jan 6, 2025)
- $699on a dealer sheet a buyer transcribed; the buyer got $699 off the truck instead of removing it (Mar 2023), TacomaWorld forum: question on buyer's sheet prior to taking delivery (Mar 16, 2023)
Can the dealer require it?
The FTC's September 2026 guidance for dealers says an optional add-on can't be presented as required, and that includes saying it is already installed. If a dealer requires it, its price belongs in the advertised price. FTC: Automobile Industry Pricing Transparency: FAQs (Sep 2026)

Honest take
Can make sense when
- If you will use what comes after ToyotaCare: two synthetic oil changes and four tire rotations, plus roadside and rental help, for up to 5 years or 60,000 miles.
- If the price comes down: one buyer on a forum reports getting $699 off the truck when the package could not be removed from the sticker.
Worth skipping when
- If you expect to sell or trade the car before ToyotaCare's two years of maintenance run out, since the package's oil changes and rotations start after ToyotaCare.
- If the protectants are what you are paying for and you would not use the maintenance, since most of the listed contents are services, not products.
What to say at the dealership
- “Is TOYOGUARD Platinum required to buy this car, or can you remove it and its $699?”
- “If it's already on the car, that doesn't make it required. Would you take the $699 off the price?”
- “Can you show me in writing what this package covers, for how long, and whether it can be cancelled?”
