Is it due?

Each line against your manufacturer's own published schedule at your mileage. When the schedule can't be confirmed, the report says so instead of guessing, and a job whose point has passed reads due if it hasn't been done.

Is the price fair?

Each price against the typical national range for that job on your car, dealer or independent. When no one publishes a price for your exact car, the line shows an estimate for that kind of car, labeled as one.

Could you do it yourself?

Which jobs are easy at home and about what the parts cost, based on the DIY experience you tell Miles about. The hard ones say so.

Frequently asked questions

Is the service quote check really free?
Yes. A free account checks up to 5 service quotes a month, for up to 5 cars, with the full report and Miles to answer questions about it. No credit card is asked for.
How do you know if a service is actually due?
Miles reads your manufacturer's own published maintenance schedule for your year, make and model, and places your mileage and the car's age against it. We never see your service history, so a job whose point has passed reads due if it hasn't been done, never can wait. When the schedule for a job can't be confirmed, the line says so.
Where do the prices come from?
Typical national prices for each job on your car, from published repair price estimators, split by dealer and independent shop when the source gives both. They are national ranges, not prices for your ZIP. A quote a bit over the range is normal at a dealer; the report counts only what is well over it.
What can I upload?
A written estimate, a repair order, a dealer's service menu or an independent shop's quote, as a PDF or a photo. Repairs, warranty work and tires are listed on the report too, but only maintenance jobs are checked against the schedule and the national prices.
Do I need to have bought my car using DealPrepare's tools?
No. DealPrepare doesn't sell cars, and any car works, however you bought it. Upload the quote and it files itself under the right car in your Garage, or add a car first with its VIN or its year, make and model.
What happens to my document?
It is stored privately in your account and read only to build your report. It is never shared with the shop or the dealer. You can remove a car and its quotes from your Garage at any time.
